Volunteering at Habitat
Regardless of how you choose
to help, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity have the opportunity to
learn and develop new skills, as well as use and share your own
expertise. There is a personal benefit to all who give their time by
volunteering.
During the course of a Habitat builds, hundreds of volunteers work under the supervision and direction of trade professionals and our designated Team Leaders.
In
addition, volunteers also participate behind-the-scenes,
through their work at the ReStore.
Please note that all volunteers on the build sites must be 16 years of age or older.
Volunteer Opportunities
Help Build a Habitat South Georgian Bay Home
Construction
volunteers help carry out various construction tasks at the build site,
under the guidance of skilled professionals. Construction knowledge is
an asset — but not essential — as are CPR and First Aid certification.
If
you are at least 16 years old, able to lift 30 pounds (about 14
kilograms) or more, and able to use basic tools such as hammers, screw drivers, pry bars, please consider coming
out to help us. Whether it's for a few hours, a day, or several days, any
amount of time you can provide will be helpful and appreciated by our building teams.
If you are a skilled tradesperson, please consider becoming a Team Lead for part of the project.
**Please note that no build projects are currently underway in South Georgian Bay; we expect to have a build project in 2010.
